NEW VENUE FOR CASCADE HEAD MUSIC FESTIVAL CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERTS

Three Oregon chamber music ensembles will be performing during Cascade Head Music Festival’s Classical Weekend of chamber music in a new venue: The Lincoln City Cultural Center, The Historic DeLake School, 540 NE Hwy 101, in Lincoln City on the Central Oregon Coast. “We are excited to be hosting DeRosa Ensemble, The Florestan Trio, and TonePoem in our new location. Each of these groups brings a fresh spirit, wonderful programming and excellent music to the 22nd Season of the Cascade Head Music Festival, says Board Chair, Peggy Hawker. “We are finding that the new location really supports the great diversity of very high quality, Oregon-based music ensembles the Festival is presenting this year. “

Cascade Head Music Festival’s classical weekend begins with DeRosa Ensemble on Thursday June 12, followed by The Florestan Trio on Friday June 13, and concluding with TonePoem on June 15. Concerts begin at 7 PM on Thursday and Friday and at 3 PM on Sunday. The Festival offers a free public Encounter event with visiting chamber musicians at 4 PM, Saturday, June 14.

“We took The Lincoln City Cultural Center auditorium on a ‘test drive’ with three very different jazz ensembles, during the Festival’s jazz weekend. We’re pleased with the results and are expecting that the hall will support the chamber music just as well,” says Cynthia Quade CHMF vice-president. The 2008 Festival programming has challenged the Lincoln City Cultural Center facility with a 15-person Big Band and all their gear as well as a chamber music trio, TonePoem, with two Steinway Grand Pianos. The LCCC board stepped up and fast-tracked expansion of the LCCC stage. “Contractor Stan Michelson really came through for us,” says LCCC Board President Elizabeth Black. “The stage was done in time, looks great, and everyone says it responds well to these big demands.”

“We’re gearing up for more attendees during our traditional chamber music weekend programming,” says Board Chair Peggy Hawker. “We have about half as many reserved seats for sale in the new venue as we have had in the past, but we still have a few reserved seats for chamber performances available.”

More information about the Cascade Head Music Festival Chamber programs and artists is available at www.cascadeheadmusic.org. Ensembles will be performing music by Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Dvorak, Mendelssohn as well as Bolcom, Copland, and Tangos arranged by Portland composer Gavin Duffy. Performances include an intermission with wine for sale and complimentary light refreshments. During intermission at the past weekend jazz concert concerts, patrons enjoyed the Colville Foundation ‘Grantitude’ Exhibit, featuring four senior artists who had received Colville grants. For the classical weekend concerts, The PJ Chessman Gallery at the Lincoln City Cultural Center will again be open pre-concert and during concert intermissions.
