The Board of Directors of the Cascade head Music Festival is pleased to announce that it will begin its 22nd season with a new home, new format, and expanded musical offerings. The decision of long-time artistic director, Sergiu Luca, to spend more time with his family, caused the board to brainstorm and talk with dedicated supporters for thoughts on the Festival’s continued development. The goal is to carry on the Festivals’ long-standing commitment and tradition of bringing world class music to the central Oregon Coast.
The Festival has forged a relationship with the 4 C’s and the Lincoln City Cultural Center to provide a new home for the Festival. Peggy Hawker, president of the CHMF board of directors, notes that “this is a perfect match for both the Festival and the 4 C’s, and a natural progression of artistic activities that should occur in such a wonderful facility.” She expressed thanks to the 4 C’s for “providing this great space and to helping the Festival continue its tradition of providing remarkable music.”
Another new affiliation has been formed with Dr. Keller Coker and his colleagues in the Western Oregon University Music Department. Dr. Coker and his contemporaries are serving as artistic director, and planning some very special events this season.
In addition to great chamber music, the Festival has added a brand new jazz series. The jazz festival will occur May 29, 30, 31, and June 1; while chamber music is scheduled for June 12, 13, 14, and 15. Each series will feature evening concerts on Thursday and Saturday, Encounter sessions on Saturday afternoon, and Sunday matinees. Mark your calendars!
The Festival’s annual gala will be held on Sunday, April 27th, at the Pacific Coast Center for Culinary Arts, on the fourth floor of city hall. This event will feature foods of the best local chefs, a silent auction, and jazz music. Tickets for the event are $50.00 per person, and are available through individual Festival board members, either personally, or via e-mail addresses that are on the website, or by mail at P.O. Box 605, Lincoln City, Oregon 97367. This is an event not to be missed.
