About Us

For the last 21 years, Cascade Head Music Festival has brought internationally acclaimed music to the central Oregon Coast. This year, as our founding and long time artistic director, Sergiu Luca, moves on to other activities, the Cascade Head Music Festival is exploring other approaches to keeping our commitment to provide excellent music in an intimate venue that allows a special rapport with the audience. We plan to honor and build on this long tradition as the Cascade Head Music Festival moves forward.

2008: A Year for Exploration, Experimentation, and Discussion

Since mid 2007, we've been on a journey of discussion and discovery in the first steps of the effort to develop new options for the Cascade Head Music Festival. Our thanks to many in the community for supporting and participating in this discussion. For 2008,we've partnered with two groups with whom we've many common interests in order to bring you a 2008 Festival with both 'excellent music' and 'in an intimate venue':

New Venue: the Lincoln City Cultural Center, the historic DeLake School. Thanks to Margaret Juenke, Elizabeth Black, and the board of the 4Cs for their support and cooperation as we have been making plans for the 2008 season.

New Music Connections: Dr. Keller Coker and Dr. Diane Baxter, as well as Tom Bergeron, of the faculty of the Western Oregon University Music Department have very generously offered advice and assistance in selecting and recruiting ensembles for the 2008 Festival season. We want to thank them as well as many others who have offered suggestions for this year's classical programming.
