Successful 22nd Festival Season is concluded! Thank you, Cascade Head Music Festival Supporters!

(Recently the CHMF Board sent the following Letter to the Editor to local papers and to our E-newsletter subscribers. CHMF's 2008 season was financially successful, and we wanted to thank our supporters. We also wanted to clear up any confusion about the status of the Cascade Head Music Festival (June Season, located on the Central Oregon Coast, financially healthy) and the Cascade Festival of Music (cancelled the upcoming August season, located in Bend Oregon, recently declared bankruptcy.) )

The Cascade Head Music Festival recently concluded its 2008, and 22nd, season, presenting six concerts with first-class music and ending the year in better financial condition than anytime in the last decade. It was a year of transition that saw many positive changes and successes in every way.

This was a pivotal season when CHMF honored its past by adding a jazz weekend for the first time in fifteen years. The Festival performances were held at the Lincoln City Cultural Center; a wonderful venue that is undergoing renovation and destined to become an exceptional facility. The Festival also partnered with Drs. Keller Coker, Diane Baxter, and Tom Bergeron, of Western Oregon University, to coordinate musical events. Our conclusion as CHMF Board member Peggy Hawker said: “It was terrific; the music was wonderful; the venue was great; the inclusion of jazz opened the Festival to another group of music lovers; and the partnership with Western Oregon University was superb. Of course, we exceeded our financial goals, and that is the very best way to end a season.”

The Festival’s financial success is very important to its continuing musical presentations. Just recently, it was reported that the Cascade Festival of Music, in Bend, Oregon, had declared bankruptcy. Since the Bend festival name is so similar to CHMF, there was some concern that the CHMF had fared poorly. We are pleased to announce that the Cascade Head Music Festival is alive and thriving.

Board members are planning the 2009 season which will likely include the classical and jazz weekends, a benefit gala, and other single concerts throughout the year. The 2008 season was successful due to the support of the community and visitors to Lincoln City, and everyone who donated services, time, money or who purchased tickets deserves our heartfelt thanks for their contributions and their confidence. It is anticipated that the 2009 Cascade Head Music Festival will surpass the very successful 2008 season.  Community members and music lovers interested in volunteering for 2009 Festival planning or event production or who would just like to be updated on our plans via the CHMF e-newsletter are urged to contact the CHMF board at info@cascadeheadmusic.org or at 541-994-5333.
